Whisper little secrets, Through the olive branches. Hide between the rocks, Where the water crashes. Burn the crimson sky, As the day passes. Like the mystery was never lost. Sneak out of the garden, In your father's absence. Lips all crimson red, From a pomegranate. Hades chased us, Then he vanished, To keep the promise of a higher love. Feel it thrash against the hull as we roll past. And light the basin the valley when the ancient sun collapses. It longs to be redeemed from just beyond our reach. Hiding in the shadow of the bluff. Hiding in the center of the sun. Hiding in the satchel at my back. Hiding in a hopeful little box.
2.
Key to an old lock. She smile when the plane stop. "We're here" on her red lips. Tinted glass and fingertips. Don't run like you want to, Through the light to the see. Don't run, it can see you. It'll be there. High tide on the old dock. House built in the old rock. We gasp when the horn honk. These streets tolerate us. Wine comes from the old stock. Four thousand years on your taste buds. Smoke so thick you could swim through the alley. Don't run but don't stop. It's just enough to be the periphery. What is there to see? Kalimera. Sweet cream and coffee. Ice in the raki, yeah. Don't run like you want to, Through the light to the see. Don't run, it can see you. It'll be there. So will we.

For a thousand years, Lie in waiting. Buried in, The ashes, Of paradise. Given up to time. Lost to progress. Forgotten to, The pursuit, Of paradise. Oh the ancients, How they knew our heart. We, too, decay, Into time, For our echoes To find. Try, To get right. Tie, It up tight. Hide, In plain sight. Light, The torch light. But we, Got flashlights, Up on, Our phones. I, Snap, A quick sight, Of you, In sunlight. It's true, We alright. Like they, Were alright. Get lost, In my mind. The view, Is sublime. Oh the ancients, How they knew our heart. We, too, decay, Into time, For our echoes To find. They don't make, Nothing like, Promenade in, Candlelight, Thousand years, Blink your eye, Thousand years-- Blink. I don't know who remember, I just hope we can better, Understand how sweet the wine, How sweet the wine. Feel the breeze, Take a sip, Lose yourself in the labyrinth. We are all, Gonna get, Where we ought to be now. Where we out to be now.

Seven Chimes 03:55
Seven Chimes, Split the morning, I couldn't sleep so I, Just held you, Dreaming. Garnet eyes, Outshine the setting sun, And the tears we knew we're gonna cry. Today is ours. For now. For all, All time, The stars, Had us, In mind.

Chania 04:20
We fought in the car. Cus you wanted the beach, And I didn't know, Just how much it means, To get your toes in the sand, Feel the wind in your hair. I'm always on blacktop, Running everywhere. But these old cobblestones, Don't let no cars by, Cus they'd fuck up the roads, And they'd fuck up the vibe. As if Venice rose, Defying the tide. It is pretty charming. Like something frozen in time. But it's violet always. The light never stops. Look at them god rays coming off the building tops. And the look on your face, When you're finding the frame. Capture the feeling. Give it a name. Chania always, For us and the strays. And a shitload of tourists, Tryna have a good night, Tryna catch some good light, Tyrna spend some good drachma, On some kotsifali wine. Oh baby, pose for the picture. I like black and white. But you've got sepia tone down, In the electric light. And we roll down the harbor, Making everyone smile. Cus with you it's so easy, To just be for a while. But it's violet always. The light never stops. Look at them god rays coming off the building tops. And the look on your face, When you're finding the frame. Capture the feeling. Give it a name. I call it beauty. Like I call you. No, it's not the same. But it has to do. Chania always, For us and the strays.

Caldera Blue 05:20
So this is easy living. Lips to the glass. Peep through sunglasses. Would you look at that, The caldera. From a mythical era. Get the Fuji out, And take one for me. Coffee on the terrace. Do you feel like an heiress twenty-something lounging by the pool. Waking up to scale but to feel small, You gotta look down. Fira ain't a big town, no. Say it had a big heart, They built everything on. Look at that sunset. Feel alive. George has an air of Bowie, And knows his paradise. We all pay a price. No matter where you're from. Whether it's the, Chinese tourists with selfie sticks, Or the German tourists with hiking boots, Or Italian tourists with Hermes bags, Or American tourists singing Abba. Yeah. But that's the way of it. He's resigned to say. At least we can be us. If only for today. Look at that sunset. Feel alive.

Athens 04:09
They got Marvin Gaye on the touchdown. Baby, this old town, May be set in stone, But they give it up to get down. Go on and pass by, The antiquities, I, Saw Athena's statue and I swear she winked. I want you to know, That we'll be taking it slow. Hold me close in the street light, Hand on your backside, Bottle to your lips, And we're gonna have a good time. Or we'll die trying. Baby, hold your ring tight. I saw a little sprite, Dealing paper flowers with her pockets full. You wear that olive branch, We go trippin' past, One forgotten soldier and a dozen more passed out on the train. I want you to know, That it ain't under control. But it's cool in the autumn breeze, Coffee between your teeth, Just the kind of buzz you need, To get you where you wanna be. Before we die trying. Today is ours. For now, for all, All time the stars, Had us in mind.

The Goddess 03:20
At the throne of The Goddess, At the crown of the hill, She looks down among us, Her smile frozen still. She sees us. She has to. Her warm love, Is imbued, With prescience, And virtue. An echo, To pray to. At the tomb of The Goddess, Carved into the stone, She lays there before us, A mercy unknown. She sees us. She has to. Her warm love, Is imbued, With prescience, And virtue. An echo, To pray to.

In the shadow of the bluff, I was holding on your hand. You were searching for the sun, Hover golden over us, Give me reason, give me right, Tell me we are coming up. I never knew what it could do. Head over heels when I'm with you. After all that we been through, Oh baby, tell me how it feels. Cus I am lost in Athens, And I am lost in your eyes. You try to tell me, baby, I, Was out there wasting all my time. But fast forward all these years ahead, And I'm still loving you like mad. And you wear my ring now, And I hope you wear it out, From here to Denver and back again. I can't wait to get you back again. It's paradise where you are. Hold me close by the grapevine. We'll trace 'em all till we find, The life we want. You say it's so familiar, babe. Like it's mythology. Like it's mythology. No, I think you're right. I think we're written in the stars, Like lovers from Crete asleep in the sand. Say what you want, take what you need. Tie all the thread all around me. No matter how far I go now, I am bound to lovely you. And the world will crumble. And the columns will fall. And the seas will tumble, Swallow paradise in all. But our love will rise, Through the smoke and ash, Through the halls of heaven, Through the olive branch, Until it finds its right place, Right there among the stars. You among the stars.

about

Trio format version of last year's Ellada.

People seem to dig when I strip things down to just guitar, bass, drums, and vocals. So I reworked the demos, changing some songs that needed structural changes to support the simpler instrumentation, played all the instruments live, and mixed it with an ear toward a more jazz aesthetic (read: dry).

I hope you have as much fun listening as I did making these.

Thanks, friends.
