Shinsaibashi is this big, bustling part of Osaka filled with shops and music and all kinds of stimuli. It features a little section called "amemura" meaning "American Village" and is a sort of Little America. There's a triangular court that serves as the center of amemura, and it was there over a styrofoam container of takoyaki that I first started envisioning this song.

The open sounds all happened at the little court at a 7-11 there. First is a girl leaving a convenience store I was walking into. Second is a group of kids beatboxing and freestyle rapping outside that same store. I had to edit the speed of the guy's rapping to match the song.

Shinsaibashi is so fucking rock and roll, punk, flashy, synthesized. I wanted to capture the youthful energy that courses through ever single street there. The drum machine and synths are to catch the burgeoning hip-hop culture. And then it breaks into a full blow rock band, cus that's very much the vibe also. I bought an overdrive pedal in Shinsaibashi that is prominently featured on this track.
