In the final movement of the social media song-cycle (I'm just kidding, that's just a pretentious way to draw attention away from how fixated I apparently am on the topic), we look at how the practice is essentially just exploitation. The companies exploit us. We exploit each other. Almost none of it is genuine or sincere or altruistic. And the cycle is so well designed that it just eats itself like a ouroboros forever self consuming. Which is kinda cool if you think about it. That's some ancient wisdom shit. And now were all living it like a Greek mythical figure. Probably Sisyphus. Yeah, definitely that one.
